Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. I wish I could live in this shop. The smell is absolutely entrancing, and it beckons you in from the sidewalk. Delicious, smooth coffee and tons of options for whole bean coffees to take home. They have a grinder there if you don’t have one at home. Super friendly staff, even minutes before closing. When I visit Pitt again I’m definitely going back!

If you’re anywhere near Allegheny Coffee & Tea Exchange on Penn Ave, in Pittsburgh do yourself a favor and stop in this place is the real deal. I ordered the London Fog, and it was nothing short of amazing. Smooth, perfectly balanced, and honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. My wife went with the hot strawberry mocha latte I snuck a sip and yeah… it was delicious but compared to my London Fog? Not even close. The atmosphere is super cool and inviting, the kind of place you instantly feel comfortable in. And Mitch and Rich (yes, those are really their names) made the experience even better. Great personalities, easy to talk to, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They walked us through suggestions and recommendations until I landed on the London Fog, and that was the right call. We ended up chatting about sports, coffee, and things to do around Pittsburgh like we’d known each other for years. And honestly, you don’t even need directions to find this place, just walk nearby and the aroma will pull you in like a magnet. 5 out of 5 stars. First class all the way.

Allegheny Coffee and Tea Exchange is a MUST-stop in Pittsburgh if you’re even remotely into coffee. This place has been around since the 1980s and has built a reputation as one of the city’s go-to specialty coffee shops, and you can feel that history the second you walk in. As soon as you open the door, you’re hit with that amazing fresh coffee bean smell. The staff is always super friendly, welcoming, and happy to help, which makes the experience even better. One of the coolest parts of the shop is in the back, where they have a huge selection of whole beans from all over the world. You can smell each one and even bag your own beans, which is a really unique touch. Another standout is their cold brew setup- they have multiple taps with different varieties, which makes it fun to mix things up instead of getting the same coffee every time. It’s a great way to try new flavors and find something you really like. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and experience you’re getting. It’s one of those spots that feels both local and special at the same time. This is a place we make a point to stop at every time we’re in Pittsburgh- grab a coffee and then walk around the c

This was my first visit, and wow is this place a coffee lovers dream. They have hundreds of varieties all made local to Pittsburgh. You can get whole bean or ground. They all have a full service made to order coffee area. The store is very large and has make your own coffee bags. It was very busy on a Saturday when we went and the line was out the door but worth the wait.

Heaven for coffee lovers. it’s primarily a coffee shop where you buy coffee beans, and they have a extremely large assortment of coffee from all around the world, which they seem to roast some of them at the property itself. They also sell coffee beverages at the store, and that is why I was there. I went in five minutes before the closing time, and yet there was quite a long queue, which tells me that they are busy throughout the day. Got a large vanilla ice latte for a little less than six dollars, and this is the cheapest vanilla ice latte I have had throughout the city. And it was extremely delicious. Not sure what kind of coffee they use, but it was strong and hit the spot. The syrup was a little bit more on the sweeter side than I like it, but then I did not mind it. Definitely give this place a visit if you want good coffee. Not an actual cafe, so there are no places to sit. Keep that in mind while you’re thinking of getting coffee.

A aromatic bliss of the coffee varieties. Very clean and well managed. Employees are very knowledgeable and polite. The kettlecorn coffee is very good, had to try something different. So much character throughout the store. This would be a must go to and absolutely would go again.

About the Place: Situated in the bustling heart of the Strip District, this coffee shop boasts a prime location. The ambiance is good, offering a pleasant place to relax. With a central spot on one of the busiest streets, it's convenient for those looking for a caffeine fix. About the Coffee: The coffee shop offers an impressive array of different coffee flavors, and what sets it apart is the fact that they roast their coffee in-house. However, the coffee itself was just decent, not exceptional. I tried the raspberry-flavored coffee, and while the addition of the raspberry flavor was interesting, the overall taste fell a bit short of my expectations. On the upside, the quantity was generous, making it a decent choice for a quick pick-me-up. Overall, a three-star rating seems appropriate for this coffee shop.
